Bio
Born in Addis Abeba, Africa, at the age of two months he moves to Italy with the family. Starting from 1999 he works constantly with the photographic medium as professional photographer. After graduating at the University of Bologna (1999), he also starts teaching photography for public and private institutions. During 2005 and 2010 he was a curator and founder of a photographic colleptive center in Bologna, and he collaborated as photographer with public ad private organization (Comune di Bologna, Ducati, MortorShow, Smau, Imaginarium, Carpigiani…). In 2008 he moved for three months in New York where begins his relationship with the city and its photography community. Back in Italy, in 2009 he starts organizing photography classes. In 2010 he founds, with another Italian photographer, Spazio Labo’ | Center of Photography, a space dedicated to photography in the center of Bologna which consists in a gallery, a school, a library and a place for events such as book presentations, talks, portfolio reviews. Nowadays he teaches in the one year program of the school and curates the gallery, which hosts shows by both emerging and established national and international photographers. In July 2011 he starts the independent editorial project called Edizioni Labo’, self publishing books and catalogs for Spazio Labo’. Since 2010 he also curates the project “Photography Workshop in New York”. He frequently collaborates, doing portfolio reviews and talks, with international festivals such as Savignano Immagini and Foiano Fotografia.
He showed work in some group shows (Oct 2004 “VuotiViaggianti”, Bologna; June 2008, “Museo dei Misteri”, Campobasso; May 2009, “ArtePhoto”, photography biennale of Cento, Bologna) In July 2010 she has been invited to join the artist residency Roccagloriosa (Salerno) for which she realized the project “Leggins”; in April 2011 she has realized a project for the artist residency“Nosadella 2″ in Bologna called “Room with a view”; in October 2011 she has been part of a project exhibited inside the “Archivio Aperto” festival (Bologna) along with photographers Giuseppe De Mattia and Laura De Marco.
